How to get to Westman Islands ?

The first thing is of course to travel to Iceland and the best way to do that, is flying with Icelandair, they fly from various destinations for more information and booking visit http://www.icelandair.com/ .

When landed at Keflavik Airport you have the option of taking the bus to Reykjavik visit http://www.flybus.is/ for more information you can also rent a car from e.g. http://www.hertz.is/ and drive wherever you want to go.

Transportation to Westman Islands:

 

Air Iceland flies a daily scheduled air service between Westman Islands and Reykjavik.
The flight time is only 25 minutes

Flugfélag Vestmannaeyja flies charter flights from Bakki, Selfoss, Skógar, Hella and Reykjavik.

Flights to the Westman Islands from Bakki take 5 minutes, 14 minutes from Hella, 20 minutes from Selfoss and 15 minutes from Skógar. Scheduled busses go to these locations from Reykjavik bus terminal http://www.bsi.is/

The car- and passenger ferry Herjólfur has scheduled trips daily between Þorlákshöfn (pronounced "Thorlawkshoefn") and the Westman Islands.

To get to Þorlákshöfn, either drive west from Reykjavík through Þrengslin to the south coast, or take bus 3a from the BSÍ bus terminal in Reykjavík. The bus leaves Reykjavík approx. 1 hour before Herjólfur leaves dock. See http://www.bsi.is/ for details on bus schedules.

Herjólfur's trip takes 2 hours and 45 minutes. The ship takes up to 500 passengers and 50 cars. On board there is a caffeteria and rentable sleeping quarters.
